A LIGHTER BOTTLE

With the start of 2025, Ricasoli strengthens its commitment to a greener and more responsible future.

For years, the winery has been engaged in energy-saving projects, reducing its environmental impact, and improving the management of natural resources. Step by step, the company is cementing its role as a leader in sustainability—a priority that is more crucial than ever for the wine industry. Every move towards greater efficiency aligns with a broader strategy that considers not only production but also social and environmental dimensions, forming the foundation of its corporate philosophy. Moreover, growing consumer awareness of the environmental impact of their choices motivates the company to do better and aim higher, with a long-term vision.

This year, the winery is taking another significant leap forward with the introduction of a lighter, more eco-friendly bottle. Starting with the 2023 vintage of Brolio Chianti Classico and the 2022 vintage of Rocca Guicciarda Chianti Classico Riserva, Ricasoli will adopt a new bottle made of up to 90% recycled glass, weighing just 380 grams (0.85 lbs). This represents a significant reduction compared to the traditional bottles used for these wines. The company estimates that this change will save hundreds of quintals of glass annually, thereby lowering the production of materials and reducing its carbon footprint.

This initiative is part of a broader project that also involves transforming Ricasoli’s product packaging. The company has decided to streamline and simplify the packaging of its main offerings, adopting a minimalist design with limited use of inks and colors. Additionally, it will use FSC-certified recycled cardboard, a certification that guarantees the adoption of responsible and sustainable forestry practices, which Ricasoli has already embraced in the past.

This effort is part of a wider vision, reaffirming Ricasoli’s role as a steward of its territory and resources. By minimizing its environmental impact and promoting sustainability throughout its supply chain, the company recognizes that “sustainability” is not just a trendy term, but a concrete goal reflected in daily actions. For Ricasoli, the future of wine must align with a greener future, where every bottle represents not only the fruits of the earth but also a steadfast commitment to protecting the environment and future generations.

Ricasoli thus reaffirms its role as custodian of its territory and resources, in the knowledge that “sustainability” is not just a trendy term, but a concrete goal reflected in daily actions, and that the future of wine cannot ignore a constant commitment to protecting of the environment and future generations.
